'Silent Running' - that takes me back (although nowadays there is a copy in my dvd collection). Yes, certainly a poignant message there. And hwy not use the moon for a repository of sorts? NO earthquakes, no atmosphere...a last outpost for humanity?
I think that if we could get past the gravity well cost, the moon would be a fine option. I know there are plans to do something like that in Norway, but if the earth takes a major strike, that might be involved as likely as any other location on the Earth
